New FIA 8858-2010 standard for Frontal Head Restraint System (FHR).
What changed from FIA 8858-2002 standard?
-The HANS® has a certification label that displays the new standard.
- A new white background label (regarding the new standard) of the new standard is sewn on the HANS’ tethers.
-The post anchors fitted to the helmet have a different shape as well as different standard. The sticker certifying they have been installed by the manufacturer (or one of its representatives) is no longer required for FIA 8858-2010 standard.
- A factory pre-equipped clip fitting with a compatibility certification sticker is on all FIA 8858-2010 compatible helmets that falls under this head restraint system standard. To use this installation matrix, start from the HANS®/tethers section (on the left side of the table) or from the helmet/post anchors section (on the right side of the table); the arrows indicate the possible combinations allowed on the left section are inter-compatibles with the combinations allowed on the right section (and vice versa).
N.B: The old standard FIA 8858-2002 remains valid until further notice.
Installing HANS®post anchors
With the new FIA standard for the head restraint systems all compatible helmets are factory fitted with an anchor for the HANS post anchors to be attached (all Stand 21 SNELL SA(H) 2010 or FIA 8860-2010). The end user can now install the post anchors on the helmet by himself.

To comply with the FIA, SNELL SA 2010 and SAH 2010 standard, the previous standards received major change. However, the SNELL SA 2005 standard is recognized by the FIA
The FIA 8860-2010 standard replaces the standard FIA 8860-2004, which remains applicable in all FIA race

-Helmets BSI standard BS6658-85 A/FR may not be allowed after Dec 31/2013
